More often than not, the better goalie will prevail in game seven.

Tim Thomas of the Boston Bruins proved just that in game seven of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final.  Thomas earned his second shutout of the series, while also recording an amazing 1.15 GAA and a .967 save percentage in the final seven games.  Here is the laundry list of achievements that he can add to his resume:

ove.  One of the biggest stories heading into this Final is the play of the goaltenders.  Tim Thomas is one of the oldest starting goaltenders in the NHL at age 37.  The American goaltender has bounced around the league in his career but has found his stride much later than most.  Already winning one Vezina Trophy, Thomas is in line to win his second in three years.  The real story of his play comes in these playoffs.  Thomas has posted a 2.29 GAA with a .929 save percentage this post-season, both ranking in the top-five in goaltender statistics.  Thomas has had few hiccups and goes into the Finals in his best form.

, his .935 save percentage is still the best in the league.

2008-09 Vezina Trophy winner Tim Thomas (Flint, MI) has fallen from the top spot due to his average performance this season.  His 12-11-5 record is not something that the 35-year old goalie likes to brag about, but has still posted a respectable .918 save percentage.
