Henrik Sedin

s.  Currently, he is tied for first with Evgeni Malkin (Pittsburgh), Phil Kessel (Toronto) and Henrik Sedin (Vancouver).

During practice Tuesday morning, Giroux rejoined his linemates, Jaromir Jagr and Scott Hartnell, while also spending time on the first power-play unit.  It was Giroux’s third straight day of practice.

Two teams who have been sitting outside of the Stanley Cup Finals for quite some time finally get the chance to win Lord Stanley’s Cup.  Boston has not seen the Finals since 1990 when they lost to the Edmonton Oilers in five games.  The Vancouver Canucks are well-documented in their last Stanley Cup Final appearance, when they lost in that memorable seven-game series to the New York Rangers in 1994.

Over and over again, we have seen penalties hurt a team’s chance of winning games in the 2010-11 NHL Playoffs.  These penalties have been turning into power-play goals with one flick of the wrist or one wind-up from the point.  How important is it to be that guy that gets the all-important power-play goal to give his team a mental edge?

Remember that Flyers – Bruins series last post-season?  The Blackhawks have it fresh in their memories.

After being down in the series 3-0, the eighth-seeded Chicago Blackhawks have made the series very interesting, winning the last two games in convincing fashion.  After winning game four 7-2, the Blackhawks flew into Vancouver and stole game five, 5-0.  Not only are the Blackhawks staving off elimination, they are chasing Vezina trophy-finalist Roberto Luongo from between the pipes.

Dan Boyle, Dany Heatley, Joe Thornton (San Jose Sharks)

Stephen Stamkos (Tampa Bay Lightning)

Henrik Sedin (Vancouver Canucks)

Alexander Ovechkin (Washington Capitals)

When looking at this star-studded list, it is hard to fit Oshie in it. The young man has skill and knows how to use it, but he has just never been able to put up the big numbers. Even when playing with the University of North Dakota, he was not far-and-away the biggest point producer. Even when playing with the likes of current NHLers Drew Stafford, Jonathan Toews and Travis Zajac, Oshie only cracked the 50-point plateau once when playing over 40 games every year in three NCAA seasons. Even defensive forward Jay Pandolfo scored 67 points in 40 games in his senior year at Boston University, and non-flashy Mike Knuble scored over 60 points twice in his tenure with the University of Michigan.

ur teammates.”

Its a no-brainer that Vancouver wants the power forward.  With Henrik Sedin as the top center on the roster and Ryan Kessler as the number two man, its obvious that head coach Alain Vigneault wants someone who could round out the third line or even challenge Kessler for the second line.  Recently off the injury reserve is Pavol Demitra, who has seen much time at center with various teams, but was vocal when playing in Minnesota that he did not want to center a line in the NHL.

Canuck fans no longer have a reason to panic.

Vancouver General Manager Mike Gillis announced just before noon on Wednesday that the Canucks and the Sedins finally reached a contract extension.  It is believed to be a five-year extension  that will earn each brother $6.1 million each season.

Louis must look out for is the pairing of brothers Daniel and Henrik Sedin.  Both players recorded a point on the same goal 57 different times this season, which blows away any other one-two punch in the NHL.  Both players amassed 82 points separately this season, and have been the driving force for the Canucks all year.
