>The “Kid Line” as it has been nicknamed, contributed for 136 points last season.  David Perron, Patrik Berglund and T.J. Oshie were impressive throughout 2009, once Berglund and Oshie fully recovered from their injuries.  All 3 of these players were dazzling Blues fans with their brilliant puck-cycling along with their willingness to work the puck in front of the net.  Perron is known for his speed and puck-handling skills, but has been criticized in the past for his small stature and the inability to hold onto the puck when hit.  It seems that he worked on that over the summer though, as rumors are swirling that Perron bulked up a bit and put on about 10-15 lbs.

along the boards would be a welcomed addition.  Rumors were circling that Alex Pietrangelo or David Perron were on their way out with this deal, so it is hard to say who would have gotten the better end of the trade as of now.  If this was a player-for-player deal and did not involve any other variables, Perron would make perfect sense to be on his way out.  Kessel is more of a  proven player than Perron, scoring 36 goals last season and being more of a force on the power-play.  Perron is also on the last year of his contract, and the Blues have to start thinking about what the asking price for Johnson will be next summer.  While Kessel would most likely ask for more than Perron, Kessel brings more to the table which in turn means that the Blues may not need a Paul Kariya contract around come next season.

Oshie, Patrik Berglund and David Perron play in their second full season together, they will also be glad to see Erik Johnson and Paul Kariya return from long injuries.

The Columbus Blue Jackets had an intense season in 2008-09.  After starting with rookie Derick Brassard scorching the ice for the first 31 games, he would fall to a season-ending shoulder injury.  But the Blue Jackets just kept winning with the likes of hot rookie goaltender Steve Mason and top point-getter Rick Nash leading the way.  Finishing seventh in the Western Conference, the Jackets can only get better with Brassard coming back for training camp.

is team has been rejuvenated as of late.  “The Kid Line,” consisting of youngsters David Perron, T.J. Oshie and Patrik Berglund, has terrified opposing goaltenders night in and night out, the defense has stepped up their play and Chris Mason has been stellar between the pipes.  The most important reason for the success of this team has been the damaging team play.  Every line is finally clicking and every player is contributing in their own way.

for the long haul with the Blues. 

The brightest spot of the Blues’ offense has to be David Perron.  With a plus-16 rating last season, the returning speedster has worked on his skating and has packed on a few pounds.  He will play more this season than last, and the fans cannot be more excited to see what this young man will bring forth in this campaign.

When the Blues selected forward David Perron at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, many heads were turned towards Blues management.  The QMJHL’s Lewiston MAINEiacs head coach Clem Jodoin, David’s coach before being drafted, even had some discouraging words when asked of Perron’s abilities.  He claimed that he was not very good in his own end and that he “needs to improve on his skating.”  But the Blues found something in the young player, and drafted him late in the first round, 26th overall.
