Andy Murray

has slipped, but still has tremendous respect from around the league.  Former Blues head coach Andy Murray once said that David gives the Blues “a triple threat down low in the corners and in front of the net – a big body that can pass, score goals and be a presence down low.”

ey Online.

Blues President John Davidson announced that the club has relieved Head Coach Andy Murray of his coaching duties (something I eluded to just three days ago).  The team has in turn named Davis Payne the interim head coach.

re the argument lies though.  Why do the veterans get special treatment?

Head Coach Andy Murray was brought in to help the Blues get back to their winning ways and bring a Stanley Cup to the Gateway City, something that has eluded them in their 42-year history.  Things do not seem to be going in the right track.

es 4-0 at Scottrade Center.  Being shutout two games in a row is not something that Head Coach Andy Murray has expected out of his club.

"All losses look bad," Murray said after the Florida game. "Again, we're down 2-0 in the first period and we're having such a tough time scoring ourselves, and yet we give up two easy goals; very poor coverage decisions in our end and it's 1-0. Again, another goal with poor coverage decisions."

The Columbus Blue Jackets and St. Louis Blues entered the 2009 NHL Playoffs with high hopes for their respective teams.  Those thoughts became nothing but a few pipe dreams for their fans and players what seemed like minutes after the playoffs had begun.

Just a few weeks ago, the St. Louis Blues could not find a way to win when it was needed, and were considered to be out of the playoff picture by almost everyone.  But a recent rush by this young team has proven otherwise.  After wins against Los Angeles, Vancouver and two huge wins against Columbus in a home-and-home series, this team looks serious about a playoff push.  They are now clinging to the eighth and final spot in the Western Conference.

cover a roaming defenseman much too often.  It may just be the coaching system put in place by Andy Murray, which seems to always have one of our defenseman behind the opposing team’s net, leaving a forward covering back on the blue-line.  This kind of pressure in the offensive zone must stop in order for the Blues to make a playoff push.

e added just 13 goals and 38 points in 2007-08.  This was quite a disappointment to head coach Andy Murray, who bumped Stempniak back down to the third line with Jamal Mayers and David Backes a large portion of the season, as well as limiting his power-play time.  After a slow start in 2008-09, Stempniak picked his game up and recorded 13 points in the first 14 games before the deal took place.

nd paying attention to something else going on in the distance.  To me, I feel like head coach Andy Murray has the same response to media and the St. Louis Blues fans.  It doesn’t seem to me that Murray is putting an honest effort to improve the Blues’ power-play.

When the Blues selected forward David Perron at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, many heads were turned towards Blues management.  The QMJHL’s Lewiston MAINEiacs head coach Clem Jodoin, David’s coach before being drafted, even had some discouraging words when asked of Perron’s abilities.  He claimed that he was not very good in his own end and that he “needs to improve on his skating.”  But the Blues found something in the young player, and drafted him late in the first round, 26th overall.
